Seclusion/ Privacy
The farther from the road the house site is, the more clearing will be required for an access driveway and utility lines, if relevant. And thus, even in rural, wooded areas of 5 acre lots, most homes are located near the road rather than secluded back in the woods, as our home is.
Naturally, seclusion is optimal if you are seeking to reduce exposure to toxins from neighbors and the road.
