Why I Don’t Recommend Speed Queen Washers- My Experience

Years ago, back when you could find actual humans writing online about their personal experiences, it was common to find bloggers recommending Speed Queen washers.

This is an opinion/ personal experience. Consider it satire! As always, this is not to be considered to be professional or medical advice. Consult your doctor, do your own research, and consider all factors before making the best decision you can.

Communicating with the company regarding natural rubber latex content of their washers and dryers as well as chatting with others with latex allergy also led to my conclusion that a Speed Queen washer would be a good investment.

I was wrong. Not only was I wrong, I apparently didn’t learn my lesson very well, and tried two different Speed Queen washers.

Both failed.

As to whether I tried a front loader or a top loader first, I don’t recall. So, these two experiences are shared in no particular order.

The Speed Queen Front Loader

Front loading washing machines are, in general, notorious for going moldy. They are, however, much more gentle on fabric without sacrificing the ability to wash dirty loads.

Some brands can go moldy quite quickly, and apparently, Speed Queen would fit that descriptor based on my experience, as our model did so.
